TBO2 is around the corner
Hi!
As most of you know, I did host a "Tetris Battle Open" series with the TB Taiwan Club last year. It was very successful, and Prince with his 3w and downstacking took it home.
I asked es2mac to ask which Tetris client would people want to play on. A whopping 100+ members picked TB. TOP ranked 2nd with about 30 votes. TF ranked 3rd with about 5 votes. Nullpo got 2 votes.
Given the huge demand for season 2, I propose the following rulesets.
Game ruleset (Common to all 4 types):
-Must start off with Rank 100, 5 star, God of Tetris rank
-Bombs ON
-Items OFF
Ruleset 1 - Traditional. This is basically the same as season 1, with a small detail added.
-First to 7 wins, win by 2
-Participants are seeded by sprint time
-People may only join two tournaments a season, to make room for other members
-Top 4 players advance to invitational
-Double elimination
-16 players
Ruleset 2 - Quickfire setting. This was first implemented with the PTS Tetris Facebook Group. This allows for a larger number of players.
-First to 7 wins, win by 2
-NO SEEDING (Completely random)
-People may join as many tourneys as they like, provided space is open
-Top 2 players may not join future tournaments in a season (advance to invitational?)
-Single elimination
-32 players
Ruleset 3 - Accelerated Traditional. Quick play, accommodates more people
-First to 5 wins. If it is 4-4, just whoever reaches 5 first wins
-NO SEEDING (Completely Random)
-People may join as many tourneys as they like, provided space is open
-Top 4 or 8 players may advance to an invitational
-Single Elimination
-32 players
Ruleset 4 - Neo Ruleset
-First to 5 wins. If it is 4-4, just whoever reaches 5 first wins
-Seeding done by sprint time
-People may only join two tournaments a season, to make room for other members
-Top 4 players advance to an invitational
-Double elimination
-16 or 32 players
Have a look, and tell me which ruleset do you like.
I hope for a successful second season. This tournament will be open to the Taiwanese community or those who are in the following clubs:
TB Taiwan Club: https://www.facebook.com/groups/tbteconly/
New TB Research Centre: https://www.facebook.com/groups/newbattlegroup/
TB Just Battle Group (The big group): https://www.facebook.com/groups/justbattle/
I know people are going to ask me "Isn't this to unify the Tetris community?" Yes it is, but tournaments are newer to these communities and I want to focus on well-executed events then move towards integration later.
Regards,
Jason

Re: TBO2 is around the corner
For me, I'd like to pick rule #1
And I've got two questions:
1.Do we have to get "God of tetris" rank before each match?
2.Which sprint time should I post? the best one or the average?

Re: TBO2 is around the corner
Good question:
1) When both players start, they must be god of tetris 5 star yes. This is to prevent handicaps. However, as the match proceeds (ie: someone is deranked), he does not need to get back up. In other words, just rank 100, 5 star at the start. You don't need to re-rank up each game.
If you do play your next opponent, you should be god of tetris 5 star yes.
2) Just the best sprint time.
Thanks Jason for the question.
Sincerely,
The other Jason (lol)
